A Fresh Start for a New Nightmare
If you’ve finished the first part of the Chainsaw Man manga (the "Public Safety" saga) or are an anime watcher who has already been spoiled on the ending of Part 1, you are likely looking for the beginning of the current ongoing story.
To start Chainsaw Man Part 2, you need to begin at Chapter 98, which is the first chapter of Volume 12.

Why Part 2 feels completely different: Do not go into Chapter 98 expecting the same high-octane, chaotic energy of Denji's earlier days. Tatsuki Fujimoto intentionally shifts the focus to a new protagonist, Asa Mitaka, a lonely high school girl who makes a contract with the War Devil.
The story becomes a fascinating psychological drama mixed with dark comedy and body horror. Denji is still in the story, but we see him through the eyes of others—a legendary, mysterious hero who is also kind of a loser. Part 2 is more focused on character building and social commentary than the frantic action of Part 1, but when the violence does happen, it’s more creative and disturbing than ever before.
